A new InsiderAdvantage poll conducted Sunday night of likely Republican voters in the state of Florida shows a significant surge for former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

The poll has former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney leading with 36 percent of voters, followed by Gingrich at 31 percent.

The Sunday results of 646 likely GOP voters are as follows:

Romney 36 percent
Gingrich 31 percent
Santorum 12 percent
Paul 12 percent
Other/Undecided 9 percent"The race will be tighter than expected," Matt Towery, chief pollster of InsiderAdvantage told Newsmax.

Towery noted that his poll showed a surge for Romney on Wednesday, with him leading Gingrich by 8 points. The InsiderAdvantage poll was among the first to show Romney's resurgence after his dismal showing in the S. Carolina primary.

The InsiderAdvantage poll was also the first to show Gingrich's rise in S. Carolina and accurately forecast his win there.

"The trend is favoring Gingrich," Towery said, noting that while Romney's lead was still outside the margin of error of 3.8 percent, "It's not by much."

Towery said Gingrich is doing "substantially better" with men than Romney, 38 to 28, but the former House Speaker still faces a "gender gap," as women are still favoring Romney.

"Men are moving in droves to Gingrich and away from Romney," Towery said.

As for Florida's important Latino vote, InsiderAdvantage has Gingrich beating Romney by a large margin, leading 42 percent to 29 percent.

A team of salvage divers has discovered an unexplained object resting at the bottom of the Baltic Sea near Sweden.

“This thing turned up. My first reaction was to tell the guys that we have a UFO here on the bottom,” said Peter Lindberg, the leader of the treasure hunters.

Sonar readings show that the mysterious object is about 60 meters across, or, about the size of a jumbo jet. And it’s not alone. Nearby on the sea floor is another, smaller object with a similar shape. Even more fascinating, both objects have “drag marks” behind them on the sea floor, stretching back more than 400 feet.

“Could this be the Star Wars Millenium Falcon, a plug to an inner world or a marine version of Stonehenge?”

Well, it could just be another shipwreck. Or, mud.

But Lindberg says the ship theory doesn’t really hold up because of the unusually large size of the objects. “Of course it would be something from another ship but it’s quite big,” he told CNN. Lindberg notes that some observers have speculated that the objects may be Russian warships built around the end of the 1800′s. However, Lindberg points out that not only were those ships much smaller, they were not patrolling the Baltic during that era.

The Baltic Sea is a literal treasure trove for salvage teams and a “shipwreck laboratory” for researchers. The sea’s low salinity levels help preserve objects that sink to the bottom. “Right now, we know about 20,000 objects, mostly shipwrecks, in the Baltic Sea. But I think there may be more than 100,000,” said sonar expert Ardreas Olsson, “I’m not sure what you will see when you go down. But I’m excited. It’s going to be interesting to see what it is.”

The Ocean Explorer team first made their find back in August and had no plans to return to the scene. For now, Lindberg is waiting for calmer waters in the Baltic, possibly in May, before taking his salvage team to the bottom for a closer look at the mysterious objects. They originally had no plans to return to the spot, but the spike in interest from the public has led them to begin planning a return trip.

One of the nation's most influential Christian and family leaders, the Rev. Donald E. Wildmon, says Sarah Palin is right, Newt Gingrich is being "crucified" by the Republican establishment and forces allied with Mitt Romney.
Wildmon, founder of the American Family Association, has strongly endorsed Gingrich for president, and this week has been urging fellow believers to vote in Florida's primary for the former House Speaker.

Wildmon has spent decades on the front-lines of the battle to protect American families and says Gingrich is the best choice for Christian conservatives who want a president to stand against a rising tide of secularism and anti-Christian sentiment.

On Thursday, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin stated on the Fox Business channel: "Look at Newt Gingrich, what's going on with him via the establishment's attacks. They're trying to crucify this man and rewrite history and rewrite what it is that he has stood for all these years.”

In an interview with Newsmax Friday, Wildmon told Newsmax “That’s very tough language. But I think it’s probably pretty accurate.”

Wildmon said Gingrich is up against entrenched political forces who are “absolutely” trying to dictate who wins the GOP nomination.

“The mainstream media and the established Republicans would rather have anybody than Newt,” Wildmon said. “This is what really worries them. [Thursday] they went on a rampage, got five or six well known people, former colleagues of his, criticizing him. They’re going after him. That’s going to be his biggest obstacle to overcome.”

Asked why he didn’t endorse former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, as have several other Christian leaders, Wildmon replied: “You’re basically going to vote for the man you think can do the best job. I believe that Newt, of all the candidates, can do a better job of getting the country back to where it’s supposed to be.”

Wildmon has also stated that Gingrich passes two key criteria: he's the only candidate who can defeat both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama.

Rev. Wildmon is aware that some have criticized Gingrich for his personal life and "baggage."

But Wildmon says he has met privately with Gingrich and believes he is a changed man and has accepted Christ as his savior.

“I think it’s genuine and sincere,” Wildmon told Newsmax, “Only Newt and God know his heart. But by every visible aspect, I think it’s genuine.”

Wildmon also expressed grave doubts about the strength of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s commitment to social issues that Christians care about.

Wildmon asserted that Romney "will not be reliable. Romney is Obama-lite.”

The conservative family advocate said the stakes in the 2012 election are huge. “If we lose this race,” he said, “if Mr. Obama gets a second term, or if Mr. Romney gets in, it’s the end of Western civilization as we know it.”

Wildmon added that he gives the former House Speaker a 50-50 chance of winning the nomination, due to the powerful establishment interests arrayed against him

This isn't exactly the kind of endorsement the Romney campaign is looking for. It's probably even less welcome than the purported nod for Newt Gingrich from crooked GOP congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham sent from his jail cell.

Speaking in Davos, gathering place for the global elites and upscale chattering classes, billionaire investor George Soros - loathed by conservative activists for his"zillion-dollar left-wing radical agenda machine" - seemed to be pretty much OK with the notion of a Romney presidency.

"Well, look, either you’ll have an extremist conservative, be it Gingrich or Santorum, in which case I think it will make a big difference which of the two comes in," he told Chrystia Freeland of Reuters in a videotaped interview. "If it’s between Obama and Romney, there isn’t all that much difference except for the crowd that they bring with them."

Soros theorised that "Romney would have to take Gingrich or Santorum as a Vice President and you probably have some pretty extreme candidates for the Supreme Court" but the "Obama administration is a bit exhausted" so presumably - he implied - a Romney administration would at least have the advantage of renewed vim.

"So it won't be that great a difference and I think there won't be a great deal of enthusiasm on either side of the battleground. It will be more civilised than the previous elections have been."

Hmm. First of all, I wouldn't hold my breath on Romney choosing Gingrich or Santorum as veep. As I suggested last night, Gingrich is rather more likely to be Romney's Ambassador to the Moon than his number two. Santorum, despite the good campaign he has fought, is unlikely to make the cut, not least because he lost his home state of Pennsyvania, a key swing state, by 18 points in 2006.

And I, er, wouldn't hold my breath about an Obama-Romney general election being "civilised".

As Rush Limbaugh suggests, Soros may well be making mischief here by feeding theRomney as RINO meme. "He's endorsing Romney, 'Romney, that's cool, no difference, I could go either way that way'," Limbaugh said on his radio show today. "Now, Soros knows that he's hated by the Republican base. So if he's playing psychology, he's trying to shtup Romney, if you will."

The Obama campaign views Romney as wounded and Democrats and their union allies are doing their best to hurt him further in Florida. Their thinking is that this might just help Gingrich secure the nomination or make Romney a less formidable candidate in the general election - in their view, a victory for the Left either way.

Planned Parenthood’s “Saucy” New Ad Campaign

Planned Parenthood of Northern New England is running a “cheeky and irreverent” new ad campaign online, on buses, and in local newspapers…

I’d call the ads tacky and tawdry, but I’m just a dowdy pro-lifer.

I do wonder about the cheekiness, coming at a time when Planned Parenthood is trying to repair its shattered brand. But who am I to get in the way of Planned Parenthood’s gutter double entendres?

What I do find most interesting is the money PPNNE apparently has to blow on marketing.

According to PPNNE’s Fall/Winter 2011 newsletter it hired “design powerhouse” Jager Di Paola Kemp in 2010 to “revolutionize” its architecture, signage, equipment (?), and signage “to convey the nervy, confident, and intrepid nature of PPNNE and its next generation of patients.”

PPNNE followed by creating an “equally bold ad campaign” with the help of Spike Advertising.

Don’t forget PPNNE’s Steve Trombley is the 5th highest paid Planned Parenthood affiliate CEO in the U.S. at ~$300K.

Which brings me to a flashback, when the New Hampshire Executive Councilattempted to defund PPNNE to the tune of $1.8 million seven months ago, pretty much when it was spending all this marketing money. Sky-Is-Falling Trombley was quoted as saying:

We will not be able to continue to see the more than 15,000 patients we see every year in our New Hampshire locations. In terms of where we would not continue services, we do not know the answer to that yet. But we do know that this will have a devastating and significant effect on a number of women and families in this state.

Thank goodness President Barack Obama, a friend of Planned Parenthood as well as Trombley’s, reinstated funding!

Otherwise PPNNE might have had to trim Trombley’s salary and cancel the new art. Ht~Jill Stanek

Fox News Latino’s Victor Garcia did a phone interview with Newt Gingrich. During which the Former Speaker was asked about the recent Ann Coulter and Tom Delay criticisms. He dismissed them as “the old order,” and specifically cited Coulter has having been “all over the map.”

Victor Garcia: You have been taking a lot of hits from Tom Delay now, Ann Coulter some of these people that some would consider on the far right of the conservative spectrum. What is your response to the criticism of those ones? Why do you think they are attacking you?

Newt Gingrich: Look I think there are a whole bunch of folks who represent the old order; they attacked Ronald Reagan in 1980 exactly the same way. They are looking at a national poll that shows me ahead of Romney 52-39 in a two way race and they are recognizing that if I come back as president, that I will be for very dramatic, very bold change and they are terrified. I have no interest in what Tom Delay did that got him in trouble. I thought it was wrong and a mistake, I have a very different approach to that and I have no Idea what motivates Ann Coulter but I find that she is all over the map. Basically she is for Romney and therefore anything she says about me is a reflection of the fact that she is for Romney. I expect people who are for Romney to attack me because they are terrified because he is losing.

Cannibals in GOP Establishment Employ Tactics of the Left by Sarah Palin

We have witnessed something very disturbing this week. The Republican establishment which fought Ronald Reagan in the 1970s and which continues to fight the grassroots Tea Party movement today has adopted the tactics of the left in using the media and the politics of personal destruction to attack an opponent.

We will look back on this week and realize that something changed. I have given numerous interviews wherein I espoused the benefits of thorough vetting during aggressive contested primary elections, but this week’s tactics aren’t what I meant. Those who claim allegiance to Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment should stop and think about where we are today. Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater, the fathers of the modern conservative movement, would be ashamed of us in this primary. Let me make clear that I have no problem with the routine rough and tumble of a heated campaign. As I said at the first Tea Party convention two years ago, I am in favor of contested primaries and healthy, pointed debate. They help focus candidates and the electorate. I have fought in tough and heated contested primaries myself. But what we have seen in Florida this week is beyond the pale. It was unprecedented in GOP primaries. I’ve seen it before – heck, I lived it before – but not in a GOP primary race.

I am sadly too familiar with these tactics because they were used against the GOP ticket in 2008. The left seeks to single someone out and destroy his or her record and reputation and family using the media as a channel to dump handpicked and half-baked campaign opposition research on the public. The difference in 2008 was that I was largely unknown to the American public, so they had no way of differentiating between the lies and the truth. All of it came at them at once as “facts” about me. But Newt Gingrich is known to us – both the good and the bad.

We know that Newt fought in the trenches during the Reagan Revolution. As Rush Limbaugh pointed out, Newt was among a handful of Republican Congressman who would regularly take to the House floor to defend Reagan at a time when conservatives didn’t have Fox News or talk radio or conservative blogs to give any balance to the liberal mainstream media. Newt actually came at Reagan’s administration “from the right” to remind Americans that freer markets and tougher national defense would win our future. But this week a few handpicked and selectively edited comments which Newt made during his 40-year career were used to claim that Newt was somehow anti-Reagan and isn’t conservative enough to go against the accepted moderate in the primary race. (I know, it makes no sense, and the GOP establishment hopes you won’t stop and think about this nonsense. Mark Levin and others have shown the ridiculousness of this.) To add insult to injury, this “anti-Reagan” claim was made by a candidate who admitted to not even supporting or voting for Reagan. He actually was against the Reagan movement, donated to liberal candidates, and said he didn’t want to go back to the Reagan days. You can’t change history. We know that Newt Gingrich brought the Reagan Revolution into the 1990s. We know it because none other than Nancy Reagan herself announced this when she presented Newt with an award, telling us, “The dramatic movement of 1995 is an outgrowth of a much earlier crusade that goes back half a century. Barry Goldwater handed the torch to Ronnie, and in turn Ronnie turned that torch over to Newt and the Republican members of Congress to keep that dream alive.” As Rush and others pointed out, if Nancy Reagan had ever thought that Newt was in any way an opponent of her beloved husband, she would never have even appeared on a stage with him, let alone presented him with an award and said such kind things about him. Nor would Reagan’s son, Michael Reagan, have chosen to endorse Newt in this primary race. There are no two greater keepers of the Reagan legacy than Nancy and Michael Reagan. What we saw with this ridiculous opposition dump on Newt was nothing short of Stalin-esque rewriting of history. It was Alinsky tactics at their worst.

But this whole thing isn’t really about Newt Gingrich vs. Mitt Romney. It is about the GOP establishment vs. the Tea Party grassroots and independent Americans who are sick of the politics of personal destruction used now by both parties’ operatives with a complicit media egging it on. In fact, the establishment has been just as dismissive of Ron Paul and Rick Santorum. Newt is an imperfect vessel for Tea Party support, but in South Carolina the Tea Party chose to get behind him instead of the old guard’s choice. In response, the GOP establishment voices denounced South Carolinian voters with the same vitriol we usually see from the left when they spew hatred at everyday Americans “bitterly clinging” to their faith and their Second Amendment rights. The Tea Party was once again told to sit down and shut up and listen to the “wisdom” of their betters. We were reminded of the litany of Tea Party endorsed candidates in 2010 who didn’t win. Well, here’s a little newsflash to the establishment: without the Tea Party there would have been no historic 2010 victory at all.

I spoke up before the South Carolina primary to urge voters there to keep this primary going because I have great concern about the GOP establishment trying to anoint a candidate without the blessing of the grassroots and all the needed energy and resources we as commonsense constitutional conservatives could bring to the general election in order to defeat President Obama. Now, I respect Governor Romney and his success. But there are serious concerns about his record and whether as a politician he consistently applied conservative principles and how this impacts the agenda moving forward. The questions need answers now. That is why this primary should not be rushed to an end. We need to vet this. Pundits in the Beltway are gleefully proclaiming that this primary race is over after Florida, despite 46 states still not having chimed in. Well, perhaps it’s possible that it will come to a speedy end in just four days; but with these questions left unanswered, it will not have come to a satisfactory conclusion. Without this necessary vetting process, the unanswered question of Governor Romney’s conservative bona fides and the unanswered and false attacks on Newt Gingrich will hang in the air to demoralize many in the electorate. The Tea Party grassroots will certainly feel disenfranchised and disenchanted with the perceived orchestrated outcome from self-proclaimed movers and shakers trying to sew this all up. And, trust me, during the general election, Governor Romney’s statements and record in the private sector will be relentlessly parsed over by the opposition in excruciating detail to frighten off swing voters. This is why we need a fair primary that is not prematurely cut short by the GOP establishment using Alinsky tactics to kneecap Governor Romney’s chief rival.

As I said in my speech in Iowa last September, the challenge of this election is not simply to replace President Obama. The real challenge is who and what we will replace him with. It’s not enough to just change up the uniform. If we don’t change the team and the game plan, we won’t save our country. We truly need sudden and relentless reform in Washington to defend our republic, though it’s becoming clearer that the old guard wants anything but that. That is why we should all be concerned by the tactics employed by the establishment this week. We will not save our country by becoming like the left. And I question whether the GOP establishment would ever employ the same harsh tactics they used on Newt against Obama. I didn’t see it in 2008. Many of these same characters sat on their thumbs in ‘08 and let Obama escape unvetted. Oddly, they’re now using every available microscope and endoscope – along with rewriting history – in attempts to character assassinate anyone challenging their chosen one in their own party’s primary. So, one must ask, who are they really running against?

VIDEO: Military Begins Training For Domestic Urban Warfare Anticipated “In The Near Future”

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The Los Angeles Police Department teamed with military special operation forces Wednesday evening to conduct multi-agency tactical exercises in the skies above downtown LA.

Many questioned what was going on Wednesday night as a Black Hawk helicopter and four OH-6 choppers – or “Little Birds” – flew over the city, at one point hovering just above the US Bank building downtown and later flying low over the Staples Center as the Lakers played inside.

Someone could be seen sitting inside an open chopper with his legs hanging off the side.

Sky9 spotted the Black Hawk in the dark, making what appeared to be a drop off at a park before quickly ascending back into the air.

Throughout the exercise, the five rotorcrafts were staged at Dodgers Stadium.

The LAPD said the purpose of the training was in part to ensure the military’s ability to operate in urban environments.

Chief Warrant Officer David Duran was a U.S. Army aviator for 12 years. He now flies Blackhawk helicopters for the National Guard in California. Duran says what KCAL9 saw Wednesday night could be a dry run for a future mission.

“They do a lot of mockup training,” said Duran. “But it’s always best to get the closest terrain layout to what the objective is.”

Duran said the military chooses training environments based on what they might be facing in the near future.

“If it’s a mountainous terrain, they go to the mountains; if it’s a desert terrain, they use the desert; if they’re in a coastal terrain, they use the coast,” said Duran. “If it’s an urban terrain, you know, whatever’s needed.”

In a release Monday, the LAPD said training exercises would take place at various sites around the greater Los Angeles area through Thursday. The exercises were coordinated with local authorities and owners of the training sites, according to the release.

Many wondered Thursday night about the safety of such drastic maneuvers being conducted over an urban area.

The LAPD said safety precautions were taken to prevent risk to the general public, as well as the military personnel involved.

Similar exercises have been seen in Miami and Boston.

Maybe it’s just the prepper in me, but when I heard the U.S. Military will be conducting a massive training exercise in the streets of Los Angeles I must say it made me feel a little uneasy. And how could it not?

With the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act, which gives the President the power to arrest and detain American Citizens, it makes one wonder why the military is conducting drills in Urban America.

This Thursday the military will be conducting a joint exercise in the streets of Downtown Los Angeles. The joint exercise will have the Los Angeles Police Department providing situational support and will take place at multiple simulated training locations throughout Los Angeles.

We could always chalk this off to standard military training, but we suggest that these soldiers are being trained to deal specifically with scenarios recently outlined by the Pentagon, including civil unrest right here in the good old USA.

Romney said his investments in Fannie and Freddie were in a blind trust.

But as reported in the National Journal, Romney earned tens of thousands of dollars from investments NOT in a blind trust.

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (AP) — Rick Santorum is tired, almost broke — and going home.

The former Pennsylvania senator is taking a pause from Florida campaigning just days before the Tuesday primary that even he expects to deal him a third consecutive loss.

Santorum says he would rather spend his Saturday sitting at his kitchen table doing his taxes than campaigning in a state where the race for the Republican presidential nomination has become a two-man fight between Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney.

The cash-strapped candidate acknowledges that he simply can't keep up with the GOP front-runners in Florida.

"We're going to talk about the Constitution and talk about being a strong conservative," Santorum said at an event here this week. "And that's all we can do."

Outside advisers are urging him to pack up in Florida completely and not spend another minute in a state where he is cruising toward a loss. But Santorum insisted on Friday that he would return once he has readied his taxes for public release.

"I'm coming back within 24 hours, and I'm here through up to election day," Santorum told Fox News. "I've spent every minute here in Florida, and I'm going to work in Florida."

Santorum has yet to announce his schedule for Florida's primary day. He says it was a mistake for him to remain in South Carolina on its voting day.

"We can't let grass grow," he told reporters Thursday. "South Carolina Election Day was sort of a wasted day for us."

He pledged to continue his campaign regardless of the Florida outcome.

It's a grim period for Santorum, who just three weeks ago was riding high on a strong finish in the Iowa caucuses; after first saying the result was a virtual tie with Romney, the Iowa GOP ultimately declared Santorum the winner. The victory was short-lived. He lost big in both New Hampshire and South Carolina.

He faced an uphill battle even before the race turned to Florida. He doesn't have the money to spend on television ads in Florida's expensive media markets. He couldn't compete with the thousands-strong crowds his rivals have been drawing. And he wasn't able to find a moment here that crystalized the rationale for his candidacy.

"Other candidates tell you they need your help," Santorum told Florida Republicans this week, almost pleading. "They're lying. I really need your help."

But help didn't come — at least in this state — for a candidate who is visibly exhausted and running on, at most, four hours of sleep each night.

So Santorum is going home to Pennsylvania, which he represented in the Senate, and Virginia, where he lives with his wife and seven children, to get some rest and, he says, prepare his own taxes. He also plans fundraisers in both states as he works to rebuild his campaign account to pay for upcoming contests in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado.

Santorum also is looking at Arizona and Michigan, states that vote at the end of February — if he makes it that far.

His inner circle of advisers is looking at the campaign checkbook. They say they can keep a lean campaign rolling in case Gingrich or Romney implode.

"This race is just starting. It's a three-man race," Santorum insists. "We're going to be in this race for the long term."

For now, at least, polls show Santorum dramatically trailing in Florida, the largest and most diverse state in the early nominating schedule. And he seems to be coming up short as he tries to win over voters with his everyman persona.

"I wish he had a little more passion in the belly," said Don Waldt, a Punta Gorda retiree who attended a Santorum rally at dusk this week. "He is conservative and authentic. But he isn't on top and doesn't seem to have a clear path to the top."

The radical pioneer Saul Alinsky, who helped invent the practice of bottom-up politics through "community organizing" in the middle of the 20th century, has become a key bogeyman for Republican in the Obama era. Obama worked for Alinsky acolytes early in his career, and even contributed to an anthology titled "After Alinsky."

"Saul Alinsky radicalism is at the heart of Obama," Gingrich told CNN Sunday.

But Obama isn't the only candidate with one-degree-of-separation ties to Alinsky. In his biography of Romney's father, Michigan Governor George Romney, T. George Harris wrote in his book "Romney's Way" that the elder Romney and Alinsky met after the Detroit riots of 1967:

Video supposedly showing Newt Gingrich bashing Reaganism just at the end of Ronald Reagan’s presidency was edited to put the then-up-an-coming congressman in a bad light, it has turned out.

The C-SPAN video, titled “Newt Gingrich bad-mouths Ronald Reagan in 1998” on YouTube, was part of a huge coordinated campaign against Gingrich that was launched on Thursday, five days ahead of the vital Florida primary.

But it cuts off before Gingrich explains what he means.

In the portion shown on YouTube, Gingrich talks about the Republican Party’s chances after Reagan leaves office. “On Election Day, the American people, given a choice of more of eight years or something new, will vote for something new,” he said.

But what the clip does not show is Gingrich’s rationale behind his statement, which shows he was not bashing Reaganism, but merely suggesting that then-Vice President George Bush needed to take it forward.

The entire clip, which was discovered by the website RiehlWorldView, shows Gingrich going on to say he wanted “A Republicanism of the '90s that builds on Reaganism, but goes beyond Reaganism.”

He continues, “This is the country where 'new' and 'improved' are the two most powerful words in advertising,” and says if the two candidates in the 1988 election had similar stances and were equally “pleasant” the Democrat would win simply because it would signify change.

That is why, Gingrich said, Bush needed to change direction slightly with what he said should be “broadly a center-right platform.”

“Reaganism, after all, is a values system which carried 49 states last time, fairly inclusive, I would suggest,” Gingrich continued. “It is more than just a personality issue as the vice president proved in his commitment to no tax increase which was the decisive issue for him in New Hampshire.”

Was Mitt Romney the director of a company charged with Medicare fraud? AFSCME ad says so

A full head of hair on Mitt Romney’s head disappears as he morphs into a very bald, smiling Rick Scott. It’s an ad from AFSCME, a public workers union, that seeks to equate the Republican presidential candidate with Scott, the current governor of Florida. Scott’s approval numbers have been among the lowest in the country is recent months.

"What kind of businessman is Mitt Romney?" the ad asks. "While Romney was a director of the Damon Corp., the company was defrauding Medicare of millions. Prosecutors called it ‘corporate greed run amok.’ The company was fined $100 million. But Romney himself made a fortune. Corporate greed … Medicare fraud. Sound familiar?"

We’ve written frequently about Scott’s time running hospital chain Columbia/HCA and its troubles surrounding Medicare (You can read up on it here.) Here, we’re checking the ad’s initial claim, that while Romney was "a director of the Damon Corp., the company was defrauding Medicare of millions."

Romney’s ties to a company charged with Medicare fraud haven’t been discussed much lately, but it’s old news to people in Massachusetts.

The Boston media investigated the facts of the case when Romney ran for governor in 2002 and won. It’s also addressed in The Real Romney, a new biography by reporters with theBoston Globe.

The story begins in 1989, when Romney was the head of Bain Capital, a private equity firm that specialized in buying troubled companies, turning them around, and then selling them for a profit. That year, Bain bought Damon Corp., a medical testing company based in Needham, Mass.

Bain took the company public in 1991, and Romney served on the company’s board of directors. In 1993, Bain orchestrated a sale of the company to Corning Inc., getting a handsome return on its investment and earning Romney himself $473,000, according to The Real Romney. After the sale, Corning closed the main facility in Needham, laying off 115 people.

In October 1996, federal prosecutors announced that Damon was agreeing to pay $119 million in both civil and criminal fines after pleading guilty to defrauding Medicare. The company was providing doctors with forms that didn’t make clear what tests included, so doctors were checking off additional tests that weren’t necessary, according to the Globe’s summary of the government’s case.

The overbilling went from 1988 through 1993, prosecutors said. "This is a case, pure and simple, of corporate greed run amok," U.S. Attorney Donald Stern said when the settlement was announced.

Romney was never implicated in the case. His role became an issue later, in 2002, when he ran for governor. Romney claimed that he helped uncover the fraud, but Globe reporting put that claim into question. The Globe reported that court records showed fraudulent activity occurred under Bain’s watch, and that prosecutors gave the credit to Corning for stopping the fraud. Aides later said Romney’s remarks that he helped uncover the fraud were misunderstood. We asked the campaign for comment, but we didn’t hear back.

In The Real Romney, authors Michael Kranish and Scott Helman note that Romney seemed to have two views about what happened at Damon. "On the one hand, he said he hadn’t known what was going on at Damon; on the other, he said he’d helped to put a stop to practices later found to be fraudulent. One thing that looked good at Damon was the bottom line for Bain. In the end, it was a profitable deal for both the firm and Romney, however tainted by legal troubles and layoffs it may have been."

Our ruling

The ad claims that, "While Romney was a director of the Damon Corporation, the company was defrauding Medicare of millions." That's true, but Romney was never implicated personally with the fraudulent activity at the company, and it was one of many companies with which Bain was involved. It’s also difficult to assess whether Romney knew about the fraud or should have known, and what he did to stop it. So the statement is correct but leaves out context. We rate this statement Mostly True.

Mitt Romney's campaign is amending the financial disclosure form he filed in 2011 to acknowledge that a Romney trust earned interest income from a Swiss bank account, a detail that had been missing from the report.

"An amendment is being filed to address this minor discrepancy," a campaign official told ABC News in an email Thursday in response to questions about the apparent omission.

"The inescapable fact is that by releasing over 600 pages of information regarding his finances, Mitt Romney is clearly coming down on the side of disclosure," said Andrea Saul, a campaign spokeswoman, in a subsequent statement. "Any document with this level of complexity and detail is bound to have a few trivial inadvertent issues. We are in the process of putting together some minor technical amendments, which will not alter the overall picture of Gov. and Mrs. Romney's finances as disclosed in August."

The discovery that the Romneys had $3 million in an account with the Swiss bank UBS came only after the Republican presidential candidate released his tax returns for 2010 on Tuesday. The campaign had maintained that it was not necessary to disclose the Swiss account because Romney's money manager, Brad Malt, had shuttered it in early 2010.

Several Republican election lawyers told ABC News Thursday that the account still needed to be disclosed because a Romney trust earned about $1,700 in income on the account during 2010. The campaign's decision to amend the forms was first reported by the Los Angeles Times.

At the same time, questions from ABC News about undisclosed income that appeared on Newt Gingrich's tax return have led Gingrich to announce that he, too, will be amending his financial disclosure report. Gingrich's returns showed he received $252,500 in wages from Gingrich Holdings Inc. in 2010, but those wages do not appear anywhere on his presidential disclosure report.

"An internal account review found the need to amend the reporting," said a Gingrich campaign official. "It was done immediately."

Romney also decided to amend the report from his 2007 run for president, a decision first reported by the New York Times. That form identified a UBS money market account, but did not clarify that it was held by his wife's trust. UBS has branches in the United States, so it would not have been readily apparent that the account was in Switzerland. Those who track the finances of presidential candidates said they found the failures to disclose these key financial details distressing. Bill Allison, editorial director of the non-profit watchdog group the Sunlight Foundation, said the whole purpose of the disclosure reports is for candidates to provide an honest look at their finances to voters.

"Obviously, if you don't give them the information before the vote, it defeats the whole purpose of disclosure," Allison said.

Melanie Sloan, executive director of the non-partisan group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington said she, too, was dismayed -- noting that while in Congress, Gingrich had been called out for failing to include information on his disclosure reports.

"You'd think someone once sanctioned by the House of Representatives ... would be a little more careful with his financial disclosure forms," she said. More

Alaska Airlines’ Prayer Cards; It’s hip to be offended? by Sarah Palin

It seems astonishing that someone would be offended by a simple prayer card placed on an airline’s meal tray, but I guess that’s the politically correct world we live in now. A few days ago, Rev. Franklin Graham gave me a heads up that Alaska Airlines may discontinue its nice, decades-long Alaskan tradition of including a little prayer card on flight meal trays. Rev. Graham is a frequent flyer to Alaska on Alaska Airlines because of his missionary work. Of course, as an Alaskan I’m also a frequent flyer on this airlines, which always seems to provide superb service. When I heard from Rev. Graham, I immediately sent the following letter to the CEO and President of Alaska Airlines.

It feels so odd that some may be offended by a little card with an encouraging non-denominational verse from the Psalms, but how often do we hear complaints about tawdry ads or billboard images flashing at us everywhere we turn? People of faith and common decency just shrug and move on from the constant assault on their sensibilities; we don’t call for censorship – at least I don’t. So, why in this day and age must every reference to faith in God be censored from the public square? Why must a private company buckle under pressure from a handful of people who find a little card saying “the Lord is my shepherd” offensive? I’m sure there are many more people who appreciate the cards, or at least are ambivalent about them.

Is it any wonder that people of faith feel their beliefs are constantly marginalized or even under outright attack when we hear reports like this and stories about Catholic institutions being forced tosue the Obama administration over their right to conscience objections? This Alaska Airlines story is just about a simple meal card, but for these Catholic institutions it’s about an issue that cuts to the heart of their deepest religious beliefs.

Here is the letter I sent to Alaska Airlines, and I encourage other customers to let their voices be heard. Granted, it’s hip to wage war on American traditions lately – especially anything faith-based – but for many of us it’s just not in our DNA to merely shrug off the nonsensical attacks on positive, inspiring, and (in my opinion) needed encouragement today.

Dear Mr. Ayer and Mr. Tilden:

Thank you for your tremendous service to Alaskans and so many others over all these years! We love Alaska Airlines. As I tell everyone, it is my favorite.

In my book “Going Rogue” I gave a special shout-out to airline employees because of the extraordinary customer service and good attitudes I witness on flights that my family and I take around this great country. It’s inspiring and impressive to see the sweet spirit of hard working airline employees shine, in spite of sometimes difficult people and circumstances dealt with everyday.

Also inspiring and impressive, and very encouraging, is the special touch Alaska Airlines has blessed fliers with for many years. Your small prayer cards that remind us of the beauty of thankfulness have never ceased to amaze me. In this tumultuous world, finding this little tangible reminder of such an important virtue is always uplifting! Thank you for providing the cards.

It’s come to my attention that the cards may be discontinued due to a few who are offended. I really hope this is just a rumor. Please remain strong and courageous in the face of a cultural trend that wants to wage war on any positive thing that a few may construe as offensive. The Alaska Airlines tradition should be looked upon as an all-American, hopeful, encouraging gesture. Please don’t discontinue the cards.

Rush: Newt Under ‘Coordinated Attack’

A series of media hit pieces on Newt Gingrich that appear online today represent a “coordinated attack” on the Republican presidential candidate in the days leading up to Florida’s primary election, Rush Limbaugh said on his radio show.

Limbaugh cited the blog of Greg Sargent of The Plum Line, who wrote a story titled “Romney paints Gingrich as mentally unstable,” as well as a headline on the Drudge Report proclaiming, “Gingrich reportedly insulted Reagan.” He also denounced an article by Elliott Abrams of the National Review.

“This piece, Elliott Abrams, it just slices and dices with the most harmless tone,” Limbaugh said. “Obviously, it’s a coordinated document dump here, opposition-research dump. It’s obviously coordinated.”

The conservative talk-show host said he first heard about a new, young member of the House during Ronald Reagan’s first term. He remembered Gingrich tirelessly defending the president.

Limbaugh said he is “shocked,” years later, to learn from the media hit teams that Gingrich turned on Reagan.

“Now, all of this stuff that hit Drudge and everywhere else last night . . . I never heard any of that,” he said. “Newt did say this stuff — I just don’t remember it.

“This is obviously a coordinated attack that’s designed to take Newt out here in Florida,” said Limbaugh, who broadcasts from a studio in his home in Palm Beach. “I didn’t know any of this stuff . . . and I was shocked when I read all of it.”

Reagan Author Shirley: Romney Attack of Gingrich Is 'Preposterous'

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s contention that Newt Gingrich isn’t really a Reaganite is “preposterous,” historian Craig Shirley writes in an Op-Ed in South Florida’s Sun Sentinel.

Shirley, author of three books about President Ronald Reagan, noted that, when Romney was asked about his conservative credentials during his run for the Senate in 1994, he replied: "I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. I'm not trying to return to Reagan-Bush."

“From the beginning of his political career, Gingrich was always at the ramparts as a staunch ally of the Reagan White House, from tax cuts to anti-communism to Federalism to pro-life and in all manner of great fights in that decade of Great Debates,” the Reagan Scholar at Eureka College wrote.

“Petulantly, Romney is running commercials in Florida childishly saying that Reagan only mentioned Gingrich in his diaries once. But that’s one more time than Mitt was mentioned,” wrote Shirley, whose books include “Rendezvous with Destiny: Ronald Reagan and the Campaign That Changed America.”

Romney’s newest ad is in character, while denying Reagan and the ideals of the conservative movement; he seeks to falsely accuse someone who has been a leader in that movement for 30 years. While Reaganites are about ideas and the expansion of freedom, Romniacs are about the destruction of opponents and the contraction of ideas.”

Shirley argues that Romney is a descendant of “a long line of conservative bashers.” Romney’s father, George, who also ran for the presidency, walked away from conservatives in 1964 and his mother ran on a pro-abortion platform in a campaign for the Senate, Shirley observed.

“The simple fact is Romney is from the establishment-Rockefeller-Gerald Ford-Bush Dynasty side of the GOP, more interested in great access than great ideas. Gingrich is from the anti-establishment Goldwater-Bill Buckley-Jack Kemp-Reagan-side of the GOP, more interested in questioning the establishment than joining it. These are Americans who have grand ideas about the greatness of the country and the future as a brighter one.

“In short, Romney is on the losing side of the party and he doesn’t like it one bit, yet rather than apologize for being wrong his whole life, Romney chooses to attacks conservatives.”

Ronald Reagan’s eldest son Mike Reagan has issued a statement lambasting Mitt Romney and his supporters for claims that Romney’s Republican presidential rival Newt Gingrich was a strong critic of President Reagan.

Reagan says such claims are false.

Even Rush Limbaugh, shocked by the Romney claims, chimed on his Thursday radio broadcast to say "This is obviously a coordinated attack to take Newt out here in Florida."

Rush slammed the Romney-backed smear campaign against Newt.

“That kind of stuff is why people hate Romney so much," Limbaugh said.

Limbaugh added that Newt has always been a conservative from his early days in national talk radio in the 1980s.

“He was perhaps the premier defender of Ronald Reagan,” Limbaugh said.

Mike Reagan concluded: “I would take Newt Gingrich’s record any day over Mitt Romney’s.”

And Nancy Reagan, Reagan’s wife, has stressed Gingrich’s close relationship with her late husband.

Tea partyers overwhelmingly back Newt Gingrich to be the Republican presidential nominee, a huge poll of 29,000 people shows.

And despite claims that rival candidate Ron Paul is the grandfather of the grass-roots conservative movement, the Texas congressman comes out with the worst ratings in every single question asked in the survey.

More than half of the respondents said they believe Gingrich will win the nomination. Even more say he has the best chance of defeating President Barack Obama in the fall, while slightly under 50 percent say the former House speaker is their choice, according to the Grassfire Nation poll.

“Newt Gingrich appears to have solidified strong support from just under half the tea party movement. Now the question is no longer one of who has the most support within the movement, it’s more a matter of the movement’s ability [or inability] to outperform the traditional GOP primary voter base,” wrote Grassfire Nation media director Eric Odom.

When it came to stating which of the candidates is their least favorite, those surveyed picked Paul by an overwhelming majority over Mitt Romney, Gingrich, and Rick Santorum, in that order.

“For all the messaging we’ve seen about Ron Paul being the tea party granddaddy, it’s amazing that he fails to shine at any point in the survey,” Odom said.

“Ron Paul is clearly the least favorite out of the 29,000 surveyed, he’s perceived as the least likely nominee, and the tea party base views him as having the worst chances at defeating Barack Obama.

“This flies in the face of the argument that Ron Paul’s foreign policy isn’t damaging to his brand. On domestic policy one could easily assume Ron Paul wins hands down. It’s the foreign policy that immediately yanks him to the back of the line.”

When asked which candidate they would vote for in a primary or caucus, just over 48 percent said Gingrich, with Santorum at 25 percent; Romney, 15; and Paul, 12. When asked who ultimately would be the candidate, Gingrich had 55 percent, Romney 32, Santorum 7 and Paul 6.

But Gingrich really shone on the question of who is the best candidate to beat Obama, getting 57 percent, compared with Romney’s 23, Santorum’s 12, and Paul’s 9.

Gingrich and Santorum were the only two who more than half of the tea party supporters feel would be acceptable candidates. Gingrich scored 69 percent support; Santorum, 61; Romney, 43; and Paul, 22.

“That means every other tea party voter finds Romney totally unacceptable,” Odom said. “That’s a big problem for Romney in that the tea party movement is currently the most energized part of the Republican voter base.”

On the question of the least favorite, Paul easily outstripped the others with 57 percent; Romney scored 25; Gingrich, 13; and Santorum, 5.

The tea party supporters showed their allegiance to the Republican Party with 79 percent saying they would not support a conservative third-party candidate. Sixteen percent said they would and 5 percent said they were undecided.

“Hands down — no questions asked — there simply is no interest or support for such an effort,” Odom said.

Conservative Stalwart Bozell: 'No Doubt' Gingrich Is Reagan Conservative

There is “no doubt” that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is a strong conservative in the proud tradition of former President Ronald Reagan, Media Research Center founder and President L. Brent Bozell II told Newsmax on Thursday.

Regarding the GOP presidential candidate’s commitment to Reagan’s principles, Bozell said flatly of Gingrich: “He was a warrior — of course he was.”

Bozell’s remarks came in response to a controversial article by Reagan-era Assistant Secretary of State Elliot Abrams, published Wednesday in the National Review. In the article, Abrams maintains that Gingrich failed to support Reagan’s foreign policy initiatives against the former Soviet Union.

“I read Elliot Abram’s piece, Elliot Abram’s is a good man, and I am loathe to question him,” Bozell told Newsmax in an exclusive interview. “And I suspect it is true that, look, there wasn’t unanimous peace and harmony in the ranks during the Reagan years with the conservative movement.

“There were differences of opinion,” Bozell said. “And sometimes, those differences of opinion were pretty strong: The INF [Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces] treaty, there was a huge difference of opinion there . . . there was criticism from within the ranks.”

But Bozell noted: “You have to look at the big picture, though,” to evaluate Gingrich’s commitment to Reagan’s ideals.

Bozell added: “And I think when you look at the big picture, and you look at the totality of the years with Reagan, and you look at what happened after the years of Reagan, when you were pushing back against the ‘cauliflower agenda’ — I don’t think you can question Newt’s commitment to the Reagan principles.

“He was a warrior — of course he was,” said Bozell, the nephew of the late William F. Buckley. “And it was because he picked up that mantle of Ronald Reagan in 1993, which had been dropped by the Bush people, it’s what led to the great victories of 1994.”

Bozell’s account of Gingrich’s role in the Reagan era is likely to be influential, given his lineage within, and lifelong dedication to, the conservative movement.

His father was a well-known conservative activist and Yale University debate team partner of Buckley, who founded the National Review. His mother, Patricia Buckley Bozell, was the “Firing Line” host’s sister.

In addition to conservative media watchdog MRC, Bozell founded the Cybercast News Service (CNSNews.com), the Parents Television Council, and the Culture and Media Institute. He has served on the boards of the American Conservative Union and the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights.

He attributed the attacks on Gingrich’s conservative bona fides to “the fact that, for whatever reason, Newt has made some enemies in Washington.”

TEA Party Endorses Newt Gingrich in Florida Primary

The TEA Party of Florida endorsed Newt Gingrich in the Florida presidential primary, saying the former House speaker has "articulated direct and serious steps designed to reduce spending, cut our deficits, pay down our national debt, and return liberty to our citizens in doing so."

Reconstituted from the party whose candidates garnered 310,000 votes in 20 races in 2010, TEA is pursuing a broader outreach strategy this year.

Chairman John Long said that in addition to fielding its own slate of candidates, the party plans to endorse like-minded candidates from the major parties in other selected races.

"People ask us, 'Who is the TEA Party?' and we say, 'You are,'" Long stated.

"When you speak out against out-of-control spending and officials that refuse to act responsibly with our money, you are the TEA Party.'"

The 310,000 votes received by TEA (Taxed Enough Already) candidates in 2010 was the third largest total of any party in the state.

Obama Eligibility Court Case, Blow by Blow; Obama/His Attorney a No Show

Given the testimony from today’s court case in Georgia, Obama has a lot of explaining to do. His attorney, Jablonski, was a NO SHOW as of course, was Obama.

The following is a nutshell account of the proceedings.

Promptly at 9am EST, all attorneys involved in the Obama Georgia eligibility case were called to the Judge’s chambers. This was indeed a very interesting beginning to this long awaited and important case.

The case revolved around the Natural Born clause of the Constitution and whether or not Obama qualifies under it to serve. More to the point, if found ineligible, Obama’s name would not appear on the 2012 ballot in Georgia.

With the small courtroom crowded, several in attendance could be seen fanning themselves with pamphlets as they waited for the return of the attorneys and the appearance of the judge.

Obama himself, who had been subpoenaed to appear, of course was nowhere near Georgia. Instead, Obama was on a campaign swing appearing in Las Vegas and in Colorado ignoring the court in Georgia.

Over the last several weeks, Obama’s attorney, Michael Jablonski, had attempted several tactics to keep this case from moving forward. He first tried to have it dismissed, then argued that it was irrelevant to Obama. After that, Jablonski argued that a state could not, under the law, determine who would or would not be on a ballot and later, that Obama was simply too busy with the duties of office to appear.

After all these arguments were dispatched by the Georgia Court, Jablonski, in desperation, wrote to the Georgia Secretary of State attempting to place Obama above the law and declared that the case was not to he heard and neither he nor his client would participate.

Secretary of State, Brian Kemp, fired back a letter hours later telling Jablonski he was free to abandon the case and not participate but that he would do so at his and his clients peril.

Game on.

15 minutes with the attorneys in the judge’s chambers.

20 minutes.

It appears Jablonski is not in attendance as the attorneys return, all go to the plaintiff table 24 minutes after meeting in the judge’s chambers.

Has Obama’s attorney made good on his stated threat not to participate? Is he directly ignoring the court’s subpoena? Is he placing Obama above the law? It seems so. Were you or I subpoenaed to appear in court, would we or our attorney be allowed such action or, non action?

Certainly not.

Court is called to order.

Obama’s birth certificate is entered into evidence.

Obama’s father’s place of birth, Kenya East Africa is entered into evidence.

Pages 214 and 215 from Obama’s book, “Dreams from My Father” entered into evidence. Highlighted. This is where Obama indicates that, in 1966 or 1967 that his father’s history is mentioned. It states that his father’s passport had been revoked and he was unable to leave Kenya.

Immigration Services documents entered into evidence regarding Obama Sr.

June 27th, 1962, is the date on those documents. Obama’s father’s status shown as a non citizen of the United States. Documents were gotten through the Freedom of Information Act.

Testimony regarding the definition of Natural Born Citizen is given citing Minor vs Happersett opinion from a Supreme Court written opinion from 1875. The attorney points out the difference between “citizen” and “Natural Born Citizen” using charts and copies of the Minor vs Happersett opinion.

It is also pointed out that the 14th Amendment does not alter the definition or supersede the meaning of Natural Born. It is pointed out that lower court rulings do not conflict with the Supreme Court opinion nor do they over rule the Supreme Court Minor vs Happersett opinion.

The point is, to be a natural born citizen, one must have 2 parents who, at the time of the birth in question, be citizens of the United States. As Obama’s father was not a citizen, the argument is that Obama, constitutionally, is ineligible to serve as President.

Judge notes that as Obama nor his attorney is present, action will be taken accordingly.

Carl Swinson takes the stand.

Testimony is presented that the SOS has agreed to hear this case, laws applicable, and that the DNC of Georgia will be on the ballot and the challenge to it by Swinson.

2nd witness, a Mr. Powell, takes the stand and presents testimony regarding documents of challenge to Obama’s appearance on the Georgia ballot and his candidacy.

Court records of Obama’s mother and father entered into evidence.

Official certificate of nomination of Obama entered into evidence.

RNC certificate of nomination entered into evidence.

DNC language does NOT include language stating Obama is Qualified while the RNC document DOES. This shows a direct difference trying to establish that the DNC MAY possibly have known that Obama was not qualified.

Jablonski letter to Kemp yesterday entered into evidence showing their desire that these proceedings not take place and that they would not participate.

Dreams From My Father entered.

Disc received from Immigration and Naturalization Service entered into evidence. This disc contains information regarding the status of Obama’s father received through the Freedom of Information Act.

This information states clearly that Obama’s father was NEVER a U.S. Citizen.

Evidence showing Obama’s book of records listing his nationality as Indoneasan. Deemed not relevant by the judge.

Orly Taitz calls 2nd witness. Mr. Strump.

Enters into evidence a portion of letter received from attorney showing a renewal form from Obama’s mother for her passport listing Obama’s last name something other than Obama.

State Licensed PI takes the stand.

She was hired to look into Obama’s background and found a Social Security number for him from 1979. Professional opinion given that this number was fraudulent. The number used or attached to Obama in 1979, shows that Obama was born in the 1890. This shows that the number was originally assigned to someone else who was indeed born in 1890 and should never have been used by Obama.

Same SS number came up with addresses in IL, D.C. and MA.

Next witness takes the stand.

This witness is an expert in information technology and photo shop. He testifies that the birth certificate Obama provided to the public is layered, multiple layered. This, he testifies, indicates that different parts of the certificate have been lifted from more than one original document.

Linda Jordan takes the stand.

Document entered regarding SS number assigned to Obama. SS number is not verified under E Verify. It comes back as suspected fraudulent. This is the system by which the Government verifies ones citizenship.

Next witness.

Mr. Gogt.

Expert in document imaging and scanners for 18 years.

Mr. Gogt testifies that the birth certificate, posted online by Obama, is suspicious. States white lines around all the type face is caused by “unsharp mask” in Photoshop. Testifies that any document showing this, is considered to be a fraud.

States this is a product of layering.

Mr. Gogt testifies that a straight scan of an original document would not show such layering.

Also testifies that the date stamps shown on Obama documents should not be in exact same place on various documents as they are hand stamped. Obama’s documents are all even, straight and exactly the same indicating they were NOT hand stamped by layered into the document by computer.

Next witness, Mr. Sampson a former police officer and former immigration officer specializing in immigration fraud.

Ran Obama’s SS number through database and found that the number was issued to Obama in 1977 in the state of MA. Obama never resided in MA. At the time of issue, Obama was living in Hawaii.

Serial number on birth certificate is out of sequence with others issued at that hospital. Also certification is different than others and different than twins born 24 hours ahead of Obama.

Mr. Sampson also states that portion of documents regarding Mr. Sotoroe, who adopted Obama have been redacted which is highly unusual with regards to immigration records.

Suggests all records from Social Security, Immigration, Hawaii birth records be made available to see if there are criminal charges to be filed or not. Without them, nothing can be ruled out.

Mr. Sampson indicates if Obama is shown not to be a citizen, he should be arrested and deported and until all records are released nobody can know for sure if he is or is not a U.S. Citizen.

Taitz shows records for Barry Sotoro aka Barack Obama, showing he resides in Hawaii and in Indonesia at the same time.

Taitz takes the stand herself.

Testifies that records indicate Obama records have been altered and he is hiding his identity and citizenship.

Taitz leave the stand to make her closing arguments.

Taitz states that Obama should be found, because of the evidence presented, ineligible to serve as President.

And with that, the judge closes the hearing.

What can we take away from this?

It’s interesting.

Now, all of this has finally been entered OFFICIALLY into court records.

One huge question is now more than ever before, unanswered.

WHO THE HELL IS THIS GUY?

Without his attorney present, Obama’s identity, his Social Security number, his citizenship status, and his past are all OFFICIALLY in question.

One thing to which there seems no doubt. He does NOT qualify, under the definition of Natural Born Citizen” provided by SCOTUS opinions, to be eligible to serve as President.

What will the judge decide? That is yet to be known, but it seems nearly impossible to believe, without counter testimony or evidence, because Obama and his attorney chose not to participate, that Obama will be allowed on the Georgia ballot.

It also opens the door for such cases pending or to be brought in other states as well.

Obama is in it deep and the DNC has some…a LOT…of explaining to do unless they start looking for a new candidate for 2012.

Evidence Suggests Gingrich Was Right – Freddie Mac Refused His Advice

Documents obtained via a Congressional investigation into both Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae point to a possible rift between Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Freddie Mac during Gingrich’s eight years as a consultant for the home mortgage giant.

In a recent GOP debate, presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich admitted to working as a consultant for Freddie Mac, an institution now mired in debt and in need of continued taxpayer bailout funds in order to survive. A recently released report by Bloomberg shows that while Speaker Gingrich was acting as an off again on again consultant up until 2008, no lobbying was done by Gingrich on behalf of Freddie Mac.

Last week Gingrich declared he was providing input to Freddie Mac, and warning them of what he termed “insane lending practices” and that he “offered them advice on precisely what they didn’t do.” In the early years of his associating with Freddie Mac, Gingrich provided them a number of written scenarios by which they could improve their relations with Congress – particularly Republicans who wanted to dismantle the government supported mortgage institution. Over time, it appears Gingrich offered less and less information to Freddie Mac – or perhaps as the housing bubble continued to grow, grew frustrated with Freddie Mac’s unwillingness to take his advice.

The Bloomberg report indicates no written material was provided from Gingrich to Freddie Mac between 2006 – 2008, the very time the lending markets began to buckle and eventually collapse.

While Mr. Gingrich certainly was paid well for his consulting work, it also appears, at least to this point, he was being quite honest in his description regarding both his role as a consultant, and Freddie Mac’s repeated unwillingness to follow the advice Gingrich offered regarding their “insane lending practices”.

Will these facts be enough to have the relationship between Gingrich and Freddie Mac dismissed in favor of more important and pressing issues as the GOP race for the White House continues?

Now the Daily Caller is reporting here that Mitt Romney's top advisers lobbied for… yes… Freddie Mac. Which in turn raises the obvious since Romney has been firing away at Gingrich on the issue. Will Romney a) fire the aides -- lobbyists Susan Molinari and Vin Weber? – or, b) demand that they return the money.
Now what does this little episode really demonstrate?
The Romney campaign has violated one of the primary laws from that rascally old strategist Sun Tzu… know the enemy and know yourself. The Romney campaign is a bit shaky on knowing Newt and, disturbingly, positively weak on knowing itself. Did no one at Romney HQ not understand that if they were to attack Newt on Freddie Mac… any Romney-Freddie ties would quickly surface? No? Really? Why not?
What Romney has done here is hire Washington Establishment Republicans. Smart people, nice people, good people… but nonetheless people whose very existence depends on keeping the status quo. This says -- yet again -- everything about the Romney mindset when it comes to bringing serious change to Washington. This is exactly why he is having trouble.
And he seems clueless about how to deal with the problem. Newsflash: attacking Newt for Freddie Mac ties while hiring aides who did the same thing was only going to backfire. Which it has now done!

TEHRAN, Iran – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says Iran is ready for nuclear talks with the world powers amid toughening sanctions aimed at forcing Tehran to sharply scale back its nuclear program.

Ahmadinejad, however, says sanctions won't force Iran to capitulate to Western demands.

The United States and allies want Iran to halt uranium enrichment, which they worry could lead to weapons-grade material. Iran says it only seeks reactors for energy and research.

Ahmadinejad made the remarks in Kerman, southeastern Iran on Thursday.

Iran had previously indicated that it is ready for a new round of talks with the five permanent Security Council members plus Germany. A senior U.N. nuclear agency team is expected to visit Tehran on Saturday.

Newt Gingrich chose an aircraft hangar, Mitt Romney an empty warehouse.

Gingrich rolls into the bustling hangar in Sarasota in a dark blue campaign bus, his giant portrait grinning from the side as "Only in America" booms over the speakers.

There's a roar from the several-thousand strong crowd, flapping hundreds of handheld stars and stripes.

"Gingrich 2012" buttons are pinned to just about every shirt and some fans wave signs: "Don't believe the liberal media".

A ritual is followed. A prayer, the pledge of allegiance, the national anthem.

Then Gingrich steps forward and throws his audience the red meat they've been waiting for.

"If I win the Florida primary, I believe I will be the Republican nominee," he said.

The crowd believe it and erupt.

An hour's drive up the coast in Tampa, Romney – Gingrich's chief rival in next Tuesday's Republican primary in Florida – makes a presidential-like entrance to a vast empty warehouse. The site was chosen in order to make a point about firms put out of business by the recession, and to blame Barack Obama.

But only a few score of people show up. They are seated in chairs at one end of the cavernous building. The speech that follows is no less critical of Obama than anything Gingrich has to say, but Romney's supporters cheer without enthusiasm, and the flat atmosphere is compounded by the huge emptiness of the warehouse.

The audience may trust Romney as the best next president, but no one can say they are excited by the prospect.

Where Romney promises better administration, Gingrich pledges a conservative revolution.

That alarms the Republican party establishment, which sees Gingrich as unstable and volatile, and is fearful that if Gingrich were to win the nomination as the party's presidential candidate his campaign will eventually implode.

But what the establishment fears is also what has fuelled a surge in support for Gingrich that saw him trounce Romney in the South Carolina primary on Saturday, overturning a significant Romney lead in the opinion polls to win by 11 percentage points.

Now the opinion polls in Florida, which carries much more weight in deciding the nominee, are showing the same trend. A week ago, Romney was firmly ahead. Now he is firmly behind.

It's not hard to see why at the rally in the Sarasota aircraft hangar. Romney has supporters, Gingrich has believers.

"We are tired of presidents who promise to change things and don't," said Mark Stander, a 31-year-old property dealer. "They get in to power and they carry on the same, increasing spending and expanding government. Bush did it. Romney will do it. Newt will be good to his word. He will dismantle government as we know it and take us back to the days when this country was run by the people, for the people."

At the heart of Gingrich's campaign is his increasingly successful strategy to persuade large numbers of voters that he is the anti-establishment candidate even though he has spent more than three decades bound up with Washington politics, including a contentious four years as speaker of the House of Representatives and architect of the so-called "Contract with America", which originally proposed many of the policies he is still pushing, before he was convicted of ethics violations and dumped as leader by his own party.

Gingrich rails against the elites - liberal politicians, the media, secularists - as though he were not a multimillionaire who earned more than $3m in 2010 and had a credit line of hundreds of thousands of dollars at Tiffany to buy his wife jewellery.

He also conjures up a fantasy about the way the country is being run in which too much regulation of the banks caused the economic crisis and Obama is making it worse by trying to impose "European-style socialism". It is anti-American, he tells the Sarasota crowd.

"You always have to wonder when Obama speaks, which country he thinks he's talking about," said Gingrich, to shrieks of delight from the audience.

With Obama, though, it is different to any other president. The undercurrent is not only that Obama does not know his own country but that he is not a real American.

The attempts to claim that the president was not born in the US - led by bits of Fox News, right wing radio talk show hosts and an East European immigrant dentist in California - have largely been put to rest.

But the implication of otherness – that Obama is African American, and is also not really of America – is ever present at Gingrich rallies.

"By the time ex-president Obama lands in Chicago," he said, imagining the first day of a Gingrich presidency, "we will have dismantled about 40% of his administration".

In response, some in the crowd started chanting "Kenya, Kenya" - saying that Obama should go back to where his father, and some say he, was born.

Others took up the chant.

"I love this guy," said Morgandee Flannery, 35, a speech pathologist in her own "brain injury rehab" business. "He's very motivating. He seems like a very strong powerful leader. I think that's what we need in America. Someone who's strong, unapologetic for our country."

Gingrich thrives on the fired up crowd, sucking up the cheers and letting loose a fresh blast of invective. His dependency on the adulation came through at Monday night's Republican debate when the audience was barred from clapping or cheering. Gingrich turned in a relatively low key performance. The next day he said he would not attend another debate if the crowd is not allowed to cheer him.

There's no such problem in the hangar.

Gingrich's brazeness is audacious. He rages against the millions of dollars behind Romney, which funded the attack adverts that did so much damage to Gingrich in the Iowa campaign.

"People power will beat money power," Gingrich declared.

Another roar from a crowd apparently oblivious or uncaring of the fact that an extremely wealthy casino baron, with close ties to Israel, pumped $5m in to attack adverts on Gingrich's behalf in South Carolina and his wife has given another $5m to back him in Florida.

It's not long before Gingrich has fallen back on his stock phrase "as a historian" – he has a PhD from Tulane University and taught at West Georgia College in the 1970s – as he launches in to the first of repeated references to Ronald Reagan.

In Gingrich's version of history, he helped put Reagan in to the White House, worked with him to oversee the 80's economic boom and even had a hand in bringing down the Soviet Union.

The crowd loves Reagan, the last true Republican president in their minds after the two Bush presidencies betrayed the core conservative ethos by expanding government and increasing spending. Reagan did too, but that's forgotten because he still talked the talk.

Gingrich's critics portray him as erratic and volatile, constantly throwing out ideas but rarely following through on them. He rages against government spending but then proposes vast projects such as establishing mines on the moon, which few can imagine possible without government money. But the torrent of ideas is appealing to Gingrich's supporters. It reinforces the perception that he is a revolutionary of a kind.

Gingrich has also said that as president he would defy supreme court rulings he doesn't agree with – particularly on legalising abortion and that accused foreign terrorists have rights. Such blatant disregard for America's constitutional separation of powers might damage some other candidate, but Gingrich's supporters lap it up.

All this has Romney's campaign so worried that one of his surrogates arrives at the rally to persuade reporters to take a closer look at Gingrich's record of his ethical violations in Congress and his lobbying on behalf of the mortgage lender, Freddie Mac, which had to be bailed out by the government. Left unspoken is Gingrich's marriage record, but it hovers over the question of his fitness to be the Republican candidate.

Gingrich is the only speaker of the House of Representatives convicted of ethics violations, over the use of political funds for private use and for misleading Congress about it. He was fined $300,000 and eventually pushed out as speaker by his own party.

At the time he was also leading the charge against Bill Clinton over his sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky. What wasn't public at the time was that Gingrich was having an affair with the woman who became his third wife.

Gingrich has since said that he was not pursuing Clinton over the morality of his behaviour but for lying under oath about Lewinsky. But behind the scenes at the time, Gingrich was railing against the president's behaviour as disgraceful.

In the end, the assault backfired on Gingrich after he tried to make Clinton's affair an issue in Congressional elections. But the voters were tired of it and the focus on Clinton's personal life called in to question Gingrich's judgement within his party.

Then there is Gingrich's own behaviour. Three marriages. At least two affairs. Allegations from one former wife that he asked for a divorce while she was seriously ill and from another that he wanted an open marriage so he could carry on an affair with

the women who in the end became his third wife.

The Romney campaign believes all this should matter to the voters, and for some at the rally it does.

"We have some grave concerns about Newt," said John Hosford, who brought along four of his six young children. "This is Newt's third wife. We have a family where you try to teach values – if you get married, it's forever, for good or bad. It's not what his ex–wife said; more troubling is that he has an ex-wife, and he's on his third wife.

"That part of Newt in troublesome, because how can you go preach family values when you're cheating on your wife and getting divorced?"

Flannery says she is a "big values voter", but she is prepared to put aside Gingrich's long history of infidelities, serial marriages and ethical failings.

"I do believe in second chances. And I do believe in forgiveness. He has been very open about making mistakes. He's been very open about wanting to make it right," she said.

There's another factor.

"Mitt Romney's Mormon. I mean, I like Mormons. I have a lot of Mormon friends, actually. But I would rather see a Christian as a leader of the free world, leader of America," said Flannery.

But even where concerns about Gingrich's past strike home, they don't necessarily translate into support for Romney.

"From an establishment standpoint, this country needs drastic changes, said Hosford. "If Romney gets in, is he just going to stop the bleeding but not treat the ailments? I think Newt's going to make substantial changes. From a policy standpoint, we really don't like a lot of stuff Obama does so the candidate who says he's going to do just the opposite resonates with us."

That's all that matters to Bonnie Gauthier, an insurance agent from Connecticut who retired to Florida for the sun.

"I've watched Newt for years and years. For me, he has enough age, enough experience. He's got his vision. He's telling his story. And I really think it's going to resonate not just with Republicans but people that really are sick of what's happening to our country," she said.

"I think there's a big swing to Gingrich. When Sarah Palin said 'If I was a South Carolinian I'd vote for Newt Gingrich', it went past the roof. God bless Sarah Palin. She almost endorsed him. She's staying out of the fray but she's got more power than the liberal media every want to know. People listen to her."

Not everyone is so enthralled. Julie London has a stall at the back end of the hangar selling paintings and portraits. A painting imagining all the Republican presidents in history playing poker goes for $250.

London says she is a registered Democrat. She has a "Newt 2012" badge clipped to her waist but says she voted for Obama four years ago. She's not sure how she'll vote in November, but it won't be for Gingrich. She smiles rather than explain why.

Business is not so good, she says. No one has snapped up the pictures of the elder President Bush or President Franklin D Roosevelt.

But FDR was a Democrat, and a liberal, big-spending one at that.
London looks alarmed at the news.

"Really? My husband said he was a Republican," she said. "No wonder they haven't been buying."

At which point she snatched the picture and stuck it under the stall.

Romney Adviser: GOP President Won’t Repeal All of Obamacare

Norm Coleman, an adviser to presidential hopeful Mitt Romney whose advice was once described as “critical” by the candidate, believes that his boss — or any Republican — won’t be able to repeal Obamacare if they defeat Barack Obama.

"You will not repeal the act in its entirety, but you will see major changes, particularly if there is a Republican president," Coleman told BioCentury This Week in an interview that aired Sunday, according to The Hill. "You can't whole-cloth throw it out. But you can substantially change what's been done."

The Romney campaign put out a statement to counter the sting of the former Minnesota senator’s comments, which appear to contradict Romney’s public statements.

"With all due respect to Sen. Coleman, he's wrong," snapped campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul, reports The Hill. "Gov. Romney can and will repeal Obamacare and is committed to doing so."

Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh poked fun at Coleman’s remarks Wednesday, imitating Romney as the candidate rails on about Obamacare in public appearance after public appearance.

“Romney's out there, the first thing he says at every debate, [imitation of Romney's voice] 'I'm gonna repeal Obamacare. I'm gonna get rid of it. It's the last thing we're gonna have, it's destructive. It will tear the country apart'," said Limbaugh, adding, “Every debate. Every campaign appearance. Every speech. He probably dreams it. ‘I'm gonna repeal Obamacare.’ Romney adviser: ‘No, we won't be able to repeal Obamacare. There's no way. You're never gonna be able to get rid of it in its entirety.’ "

Romney and all of the GOP presidential candidates have made the repeal of Obamacare a central election theme.

Coleman went on to say in the BioCentury interview that Obamacare “may collapse” if the Supreme Court, in a much-anticipated ruling later this year, strikes down the insurance requirement.

"If there's a Republican president, what you'll see is states getting waivers ... granted and then starting again, making sure that we lower costs, which this act hasn't done, while we provide better access," Coleman added.

In announcing Coleman’s selection as an adviser in September 2011, Romney said the one-term senator’s "advice will be critical as I lay out my vision for improving our economy at home and strengthening our partnerships around the world.”

The American Action Network, which is chaired by Coleman, advocates striking down the individual mandate and expansion of Medicaid under Obamacare.

Gingrich: Obama Tax Plan Will Bring Economic Destruction

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich tells Newsmax in an exclusive interview that President Obama’s call for a 30 percent tax on millionaires is the “most destructive anti-jobs proposal by a president in my lifetime.”

The former House speaker also says that the Hugo Chavez regime in Venezuela is a “direct threat to the United States” and we should find a way to “get rid of it.”

Gingrich spoke with Newsmax.TV after delivering an address at Florida International University on Wednesday. He was asked about Obama’s assertion in Tuesday night’s State of the Union address that he would use government power to bridge the gap between the rich and everyone else.

“Every country in the world that has tried to use government power, as Obama puts it, has made people poorer, has made the politicians more powerful, and has ended up with corruption,” Gingrich says. “I think it is exactly the wrong direction.”

Obama also called on the wealthy to pay more taxes — specifically for people making more than $1 million a year to pay at least 30 percent in taxes.

“If the president is serious about a 30 percent minimum tax, he is doubling the capital gains tax,” Gingrich says.

“If you double the capital gains tax you’re going to drive down the stock market, which is going to hurt every pension fund in the country. Everyone with a 401(k) is going to lose money. Capital is going to flee the U.S. It is probably the most anti-jobs single idea he has come up with.

“So my hunch is the White House will back off and say they didn’t quite mean it. But if they mean it, it is the most destructive anti-jobs proposal by a president in my lifetime.”

Gingrich discusses his vow to bring a peaceful end to the Castro regime in Cuba.

“I’d use the same tools and the same strategy that Pope John Paul II, President Ronald Reagan, and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher used to defeat the Soviet Empire. I’d bring to bear popular pressure, information technology, covert organizations, subsidies to people who want to be free, psychological campaigns against those who are in power, and I would do everything I could to maximize the ability of the Cuban people to free themselves.”

Referring to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s recent visit to Latin America and the threat posed by a new alliance between Iran, Venezuela and Cuba, Gingrich tells Newsmax: “I think this is the greatest direct challenge to the Monroe Doctrine in 190 years, and I think we have to confront it head on.

“We have to indicate that in the long run the Chavez regime is a direct threat to the United States and it’s in our interest to find a way to get rid of it.”

Recent polls have shown that Gingrich is now leading other GOP candidates for the presidential nomination. He says he thinks his campaign is resonating with the voters because “they want a conservative with optimistic solutions who believes that if you unleash the American people, we can rebuild the country we love.

“I think that they are looking for somebody who has the clarity and the toughness to debate Obama head on. I think they increasingly believe I can do that.”

Newsmax has revealed that Gingrich’s GOP opponent Mitt Romney’s campaign in Florida is being run by political aides who worked for then-Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, who abandoned the Republican Party to become an independent.

Commenting on the Romney-Crist link, Gingrich says: “I think it’s strange. I’m honored that we have Marco Rubio’s former campaign manager Joe Mallea running our campaign. He’s a solid conservative. I like to be surrounded by solid conservatives.

“It’s a little bit like Governor Romney’s alliance with [former White House advisor and New Hampshire Gov. John] Sununu, who helped convince President [George H.W.] Bush to break his no new taxes pledge and raise taxes. You have to wonder to what extent that tells you about the comfort that Romney has with raising taxes.”

BREWER, OBAMA: THROWDOWN ON TARMAC !!!

President Obama had a heated exchange with Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer when he stepped off Air Force One in Phoenix.

Gov. Brewer said, "He was a little disturbed about my book, Scorpions for Breakfast. I said to him that I have all the respect in the world for the office of the president. The book is what the book is. I asked him if he read the book. He said he read the excerpt. So."

Asked what aspect of the book disturbed him, Brewer said: "That he didn't feel that I had treated him cordially. I said I was sorry he felt that way but I didn't get my sentence finished. Anyway, we're glad he's here. I'll regroup."

Nancy Reagan: Ronnie Passed His Torch To Newt !!!

There is something truly obscene about the full blown assault on Newt Gingrich’s strong Reagan conservative history from and on behalf of Mitt Romney, who unabashedly ran away from the Reagan legacy and conservative principles in his 1994 Senate campaign and 2002 gubernatorial campaign. Truly obscene.

The latest iteration comes from Elliott Abrams writing in National Review, quoting pieces of a single speech Newt apparently gave on the floor of the House on March 21, 1986, in which Newt criticized certain foreign policy decisions of the Reagan administration. Abrams does not link to the full speech or to other speeches of Newt at the time.

Instead much of the anti-Newt conservative media — including a screaming Drudge banner — accuses Newt of “insulting” Reagan. It is part of a smear campaign which started when Newt surged in Iowa and National Review unloaded with it’s infamous “Marvin the Maritan” issue, and now it has resurfaced once again now that Romney is in electoral trouble.

A more honest assessment comes from Jeffrey Lord at The American Spectator. Lord, who was in a position to know because he witnessed first hand Newt’s interaction with Reagan, has written a critical column, Reagan’s Young Lieutenant, Much like Byron York’s column debunking Romney attacks regarding Newt’s ethics charges, Lord’s column is a critical contribution to the truth in a sea of shameless lies.

Lord portrays Newt in a much more favorable light:

Newt Gingrich was part of the Reagan Revolution’s Murderers’ Row. And anybody who was in Washington in the day, much less in the Reagan White House or the 1984 Reagan re-election campaign (and I would make that particular cut of three), knew it….
…. time after time after time in the Reagan years, a number of those times which I had the opportunity to see up close as a young Reagan staffer charged in my duties with being the White House liaison to Gingrich and Kemp’s Conservative Opportunity Society, Newt Gingrich was out there again and again and again for Ronald Reagan and conservative principles. In his own memoirs, The Politics of Diplomacy, James Baker noted of his days as Reagan White House Chief of Staff that he always “worked closely” with the people Baker described as “congressional leaders.” And who were those leaders? Baker runs off a string of names of the older leaders of both House and Senate in the formal positions of power — plus one. That’s right: young Newt Gingrich….
…..But whatever happens, quite unlike the picture Romney is trying to paint of his prime opponent in South Carolina, Newt Gingrich was very much present and accounted for on the Reagan team. To borrow from Reagan’s farewell address to the nation and the men and women who served him, Newt Gingrich wasn’t just marking time. He made a difference. He helped make that City on a Shining Hill stronger. He helped make the City freer.
Quite to the contrary of the Romney message, Newt Gingrich was in fact one of Reagan’s Young Lieutenants.
One of the best.

At the 1995 Goldwater Institute Dinner honoring President Ronald Reagan, Newt Gingrich was the keynote speaker. Nancy Reagan gave a short speech on behalf of herself and President Reagan, in which she both spoke warmly of Newt and recognized Newt at the heir to the Goldwater and Reagan legacies:

The dramatic movement of 1995 is an outgrowth of a much earlier crusade that goes back half a century. Barry Goldwater handed the torch to Ronnie, and in turn Ronnie turned that torch over to Newt and the Republican members of Congress to keep that dream alive.

Nancy Reagan had it right, as does Jeffrey Lord. Newt was part of the Reagan revolution and he was the heir to that legacy, not alone, but as someone to whom the torch had been passed.

That torch never was passed to Mitt Romney, and if it had been, he would have rejected it:

The promotion of Romney’s presidential aspirations has forced much of the conservative mediato conflate capitalism and free markets with the Bain business model, a position we will live to regret.

So too, in order to promote someone who never was part of the Reagan revolution and opposed the conservative agenda of the 1990s, we are willing to reinvent and distort the history of conservatism.

We deserve what we get.
