The incident caused a firestorm on the Internet as bloggers and citizen journalists covered the story, but so far the so-called "mainstream media" has been virtually silent.

"I have voted once in Beaufort, once in Henderson, twice in Emerald Isle and will vote in my precinct in PKS," he wrote on Facebook. The message was deleted, but not before being spotted by bloggers and conservatives on Twitter.
According to emails we received, the issue is under investigation by the state Board of Election and any findings of fraud will be handed over to Scott Thomas, District Attorney for North Carolina's Judicial District 3B, which includes Carteret, Craven and Pamlico counties.
The emails also indicate that Carteret County elections officials do not have any record of Turner voting at any of the one-stop sites in the county, and they have nothing to indicate he requested an absentee ballot by mail, but that does not preclude the possibility that he voted using a fictitious name.
